| Headed out early Sunday morning with a crew of 3-my Uncle James, and my cousin Nick. We anchored up on the jetties at first light. The sheepies were biting pretty good and it didn't take us long to start putting them in the cooler. Nick bowed up on a nice sheephead.

After putting several in the box we decided to get some pinfish and head over to a Grouper hole I have in the bay. Nick was the first to send down a pinfish. About 5 minutes or so later he hooked up and gets slammed down and broke off in the structure. Up next is my Uncle James, he put a pinner down and it didn't take long before he gets slammed and the hook pulled. I had a bait down for 10 minutes or so when I feel my pinfish getting nervous a couple seconds later and I am bowed up big time. I was able to wrestle him from his home and boat my first keeper bay Grouper.

He was 26in and 9lbs even on the digital scales. After a few high 5's and a couple pic's we got back to fishing. When we started out we had 8 live pinfish for bait we got schooled 7 times and only caught the one. We would have went back to catch more bait but I had to go to my nieces 1st birthday party. Nick did catch a the biggest sheepie of the day at the Grouper hole.
Final tally: 20 Sheephead, 1 Gag Grouper, 1 Mangrove Snapper.
I had the same crew on Sunday and we followed the same game plan. We started off fishing the jetties for Sheeps. The bite was not as good on Sunday but we still managed to put plenty in the box.

We also caught quite a few (edit) Slippery Dicks while baiting up for the Grouper hole.
Once we had baited up good we headed back to the Grouper hole. This time we anchored up directly over the structure. Which is great if you want plenty action but not so good for putting them in the box. I was getting schooled left and right. Sometimes the hook would pull other times they would just freight train me in to the wreck. Out of the 15 or so baits we had we used them all up and only got one Grouper out of his hole and it was only 18in so he had to go back. We left them biting for the second day in a row because they took all our bait. I never got a final count on the sheepies from yesterday but it was around 15-20. I had a great time and cant wait to do it all over again. Matt

| Great report as usual. I have caught a lot of those pearly razorfish and always wondered what the heck they were, thanks for the i.d. Just wondering, have you ever tried those guys as a live bait? The ones that I have caught have always been pretty small so I just threw them back. That is really interesting on hooking up that many groupers in the bay. I wonder if the grouper bite offshore would be that good if you didn't have so many snappers to contend with.

I knew it was a slippery dick but I thought they were the same fish. I guess I will have to look up the razorfish to see where I went wrong.
